Science Rally-Physics
On Thursday 23rd of this May we had our science rally that supposedly combined biology, physics, mathematics, and mathematical reasoning. The first thing we did when we arrived was get the number of our team assigned and written on our wrist.
After that we enter the auditorium and got explained our first activity, there were two matts on the floor that had figures that had a point system two teams passed and throw sacks and try to get in the figure, there were triangles with 10 points, diamonds with 50 and the hardest a circle with a 100.
When we finished that we were passed to the other side to solve a mathematics question, we needed to find the answer with the procedure and run to the other side where teacher Alexis was and show him the answer, only the first team got the points. The question was to find the inverse function of f(x)=2x-5. After we finished that we went back to the other side to play twister, only one member per team played and the teams were divided into two groups, last man/woman standing won.
When that concluded we moved back to answer another question this time about physics the question was “What is the first law of thermodynamics?” same dynamic as last time you get the answer you run to the other side, and only the first team gets it.
The last activity was a tug of war. Each team got assigned another team and whoever won got the points.
In our opinion last year's rally was better managed and organized, since it wasn't mandatory there were fewer teams so teachers could keep a better eye out for cheating since this time there were a lot of incidents where teams were using their phones to answer questions or got away with cheating in twister. Also, there were only 2 questions, and we had no biology questions, only physics and math. So, in our opinion the science rally needs some improvements to be more enjoyable and fairer
